How to prepare for your waxing appointment

1.  SKIN CHECK
Before your appointment, check for broken skin or inflammation. This needs to heal before you wax.

2.  LET IT GO
You need enough hair for the wax to grip. 2-3 weeks of growth or an eight to quarter of an inch is ideal. If hair is too short, the wax cannot pick it up and when it’s too long, it prevents the wax from adhering and causes more pain.

3.  EXFOLIATE
Lightly exfoliate the area a day or two before waxing. Don’t exfoliate on the day of as that can leave the skin sensitive to pain.

4.  MOISTURIZE
Moisturize on the days leading up to your wax but don’t moisturize on the day of as this can coat the hair and prevent the wax from gripping.

5.  BIKINI
No matter your preference, keep this area clean. Waxing can leave the skin vulnerable to infection. Areas that are warm and damp are more prone to bacterial growth.

6.  AFTERCARE
Avoid touching the area as it may cause irritation
Avoid tanning for 24hrs
Avoid heavy exercise for 24hrs
Avoid steam rooms and saunas for the first 24hrs
Do not shower with hot water on the same day
Have regular waxes (every 4 weeks) so that the hair thins out and becomes accustomed to removal
